Will my doctor prescribe my good strong pain killers?

I've been having chronic headaches all day, every day. Normally the pain isn't so bad and I can deal with it but sometimes usually once every 2-3 days, I'll have a severe headache in which I can't open my eyes, can't think properly and I feel like throwing up, it's a lot of pain, I got stabbed once and it's equivalent to that amount of pain. Tylenol didn't do jack but Advil worked wonders for the small minor headaches but nothing for the major ones. I know it's not a tumor because it's been happening for a while and my whole head hurts instead of one specific region. I haven't been to a doctor in like 5-6 years and don't plan on going either if he's not gonna do anything. Is he actually gonna give something that'll help or will a trip be a waste of time?
